Phuket Dec 2013 - Part I Ocean Room at Pullman Phuket Arcadia

Hubby and I brought our dear son to Phuket in mid Dec for our year-end getaway. We had stayed at Pullman Phuket Arcadia at Naithon Beach back in September and loved the property so much! At that time, some parts of the resort are not in operation yet, such as the Spa, Kids Club and family pool. When we learnt that these facilities are opened in Nov, we decided to head back to Phuket! Beach holidays are perfect for kids at my son's age because basically they just need hotel room with big bath tub and a nice swimming pool; Kids Club would definitely be a bonus.

We rarely stay at the same resort when we visit any beach destination like Koh Samui and Phuket because there are so many choices available. We were initially contemplating whether to stay at Centara Grand West Sands because we planned to go to the Phuket Splash Jungle Water Park.

However, recalling the memorable experience we had during our previous stay, we missed it so much that the choice was quite clear. Pullman Phuket Arcadia did not let us down, in fact I must rave about it for our entire stay this time was sensational and beyond what we had expected. The teamwork displayed by everyone in the resort, from the security guards, to the concierge, the buggy drivers, the front office, the welcomers, the restaurant staff, the housekeeping, the kids club staff, pool staff... everyone worked hard to make guests feel comfortable and always have smiles on their faces.

I will be posting this trip in several parts because I took so many photos! Starting from the room.

We stayed at the Grand Ocean Room previously. Although it was already very nice, we were a little disappointed it was not close enough to the ocean. We realised the rooms with the best frontal view of the ocean is the Ocean Room at Building 3 so we made a strong request this time.

Very fortunately, we were not disappointed =D

Although the Ocean Room is supposedly smaller than the Grand Ocean Room, we are pleasantly surprised that it's still very spacious. We credit the spaciousness to the clever design of the room and furnishing.

The king-size bed is one of the most comfortable we've slept on.

The couch and side table where dear son could do some drawing.

Workdesk cum TV console and mini pantry.

Plenty of drawers, useful to keep things tidy.

I love the decor and furnishing of the room, soothing and nice blend of colours.

Mini pantry with complimentary coffee and tea making facilities and beverages. The coffee machine is Nespresso, two capsules were provided complimentary but we didn't use it. Four bottles of water, two cans of coke, one can of soda water and one can of ginger ale were provided complimentary daily as well.

View from the balcony. Spacious right?

The signature all-white clock and lamp shade. A bluetooth speaker is provided where we could sync and play music from our iphone. Hubby loved this device so much that I bought one for him when we returned home :)

The big bathroom with wash area, bathtub, separate shower and toilet.

There's a sliding door for privacy between the bedroom and bathroom. When this door is closed, there's another door to access the bathroom (near the main door).

Full set of bathroom amenities like shower gel, shampoo, conditioner, lotion, toothbrush/paste set, comb, shower cap, sewing kit, shaver etc are provided.

I love the thoughtfulness of adding a stool in the bathroom. It's perfect height for dear son to brush his teeth. Most resorts we went don't have any chairs/stools in the bathroom and we always had to carry the bulky armchair from the bedroom into the bathroom for dear son to brush teeth. Else, he had to do it at the bathtub or shower which I felt was inconvenient.

The separate shower and toilet. The shower cubicle is the largest we've seen before, very solid water pressure and excellent drainage. There's a full length glass window that looks out to an enclosed/private mini garden.

The walk-in wardrobe is very spacious as well, with enough space to put all our luggage.

Additional drawers, shelves, clothes hanging area, safe box, ironing board, umbrellas, bathrobes are all provided.

And now to my favourite part of the room, the balcony! You could already see the ocean!

Very comfortable couch where dear son and I spent most mornings lounging around.

And staring at the sparkling clear waters and brilliant blue skies, listening to the sounds of waves crash into the rocks.

Waking up to this view was what I dream of since my previous stay, and in fact now.

The water is so clear!

There were even people who cast their fishing rods at the rocky area towards the right side.

We could also see the main free-form swimming pool in the distance and sun beds below our room.

With a room so comfortable and view to die for, I wish we could just stay there forever. Missing it already!

Next post I will touch on the new facilities, namely the Kids Club and Float Swimming Pool. Stay tuned!

  1. The cheaper room has a nicer view than the more expensive grand deluxe ocean view one?

  2. Hi smartyberms,
The grand deluxe ocean view room is much bigger hence more expensive. This room category has views that are closer to the ocean as well but subject to availability. The ocean view room is smaller, and subject to availability as well.

  3. Hi,
It looks absolutely fantastic, thanks for a beautiful and informative posts :)
I found your blog when googling the Pullman resort. My family and I are going there soon and are in the process of upgrading from regular Deluxe rooms to rooms with ocean view. Now when reading your posts about the hotel I've decided to go for Deluxe Ocean and hope that Building 3 will be available. Do you remember exactly what room number you had? We have reservations for 3 rooms but I'm thinking that the more specific I can be in my inquiry, the better :)

    Best regards,
    Maria from Sweden
