Koh Samui Nov 2013 - Part I Grand Deluxe Sea View at Akyra Chura

Finally gotten down to blog about my overdue posts on Koh Samui getaway last Nov!

Hubby bought the air tickets when he saw the offer by Bangkok Airways at about $350 nett per ticket. Given that usual airfare by Bangkok Airways is around $500-700 per ticket, this was such a steal even though still expensive as compared to Phuket flights. But what to do, both of us love Samui so much! More specifically thai food at Sabeing Lae Restaurant. In fact, this time we discovered another thai restaurant which we fell in love with as well as a coconut ice cream stall on wheels!

First post, sharing on accommodation.

After researching on various properties located at different beaches, decided to stay at Akyra Chura resort located at Chaweng Beach. Got a good deal through livechat on the resort's website, and the livechat agent also promised me the room with the best view (had to prepay in order to guarantee this room).

Our room was the Grand Deluxe Sea View Room 202, located on level 2 of the building that's closest to the beachfront.

The room below ours is also Grand Deluxe Seaview but we reckoned level 2 offers more privacy, as this block is directly looking over the pool and beach.

The room is smaller than most of the resorts we've stayed but cozy for the two of us.

Very simply furnished, almost zen-like. Love the soothing colours of the furniture and soft furnishings.

King-size bed which is quite comfortable.

Small living area.

With wardrobe and cupboard with bar fridge and coffee/tea making facility.

Surprisingly large bathroom. His and hers wash basins.

Toilet and shower cubicles. No bathtub which we didn't mind. But there seemed to be drainage problem as water accumulated quickly and drained very slowly when we showered.

Huge balcony as compared to the rest of the room.

As usual I love hanging out at the balcony, spending a lot of time here reading, enjoying the breeze and listening to the sounds of waves, birds chirping and trees hustling.

View from the room, overlooking the pool and beach. This room is indeed the nearest to the beach with the best view as the rest are all villas or located on the ground floor.

As the resort is located on the quieter stretch of Chaweng Beach (northern part), it's fairly secluded and peaceful which we preferred.

Next post will be on the resort surroundings. Stay tuned.
