Let's take a tour of Akyra Chura Samui in this post. This is probably a relatively new property on Chaweng Beach, less than 5 year-old perhaps? Because don't recall seeing it when I stayed at Sareeraya Suites & Villas (just two doors away) in 2009.
Anyways, the property is quite small-scale, like a boutique resort.
Looking into from the lobby area. Resort size in Samui is typically narrow and extends deep in all the way to the beach.
Lobby area is quite small, with a lounge area and a mini library.
This building next to the lobby houses the spa which I didn't try.
Lots of greenery.
Pool area. Sort of like an infinity pool. Quite shallow though, only 1.4m depth I think.
The water was quite cold the few days we were there, possibly due to rainy season.
Lots of lounge sofas.
Pool side bar.
The one or two bedroom villas.
The resort is built so close to the beach that I think during high tide the water would reach the deck chairs.
Noodle House, the only restaurant in the resort. This was also where we had our daily complimentary breakfast.
Spacious and airy dining area. Buffet breakfast spread was fairly simple.
Fruit juices and fresh milk.
Fruits and cereals.
Deli meats and salad.
Bakery corner with simple selection of pastries and bread.
Hot food like pancakes, fried rice, noodles and porridge. Eggs were cooked-to-order.
Here were some of my usual breakfast selections. The omelet was ok.
But fried rice and noodles were cold and tasteless.
The plain yogurt was quite nice, wonder what brand it was.
The breakfast selection was rather limited and tasted so-so only. Service was also quite slow. Quite disappointing as compared to the breakfast spreads we had at other Samui Resorts. In fact, we skipped breakfast on the last day which we seldom do at resorts because breakfast is sort of a highlight and the spread is usually generous, sumptuous and very tasty.
Anyways, we didn't really mind the mediocre breakfast because we were looking forward to dining at our favourite local thai restaurants.
Next post, I'm going to share about our exciting new find of a local thai restaurant! Stay tuned!
